Marzena Pawlik is an early career researcher in Advanced Composite Materials at the University of Derby. She received her B.Eng. in Mechanical Engineering and recently PhD from the University of Derby. Her PhD project was a blend of numerical and experimental work focused on fibre-reinforced composites modified with graphene. Key research experience includes FEM multiscale modelling, inverse analysis to predict interphase properties and experimental techniques to introduce nanofillers in fibre-reinforced composites. Marzena has four years of experience in the teaching diverse subjects in the mechanical engineering discipline. She helped to supervise over ten research projects, including both undergraduate and postgraduate students. From September 2018, she works as a full-time researcher on several projects including adhesive bonding of dissimilar materials using nano-reinforced adhesive, effects of surface treatments of adherend and wettability of adhesive, interlaminar properties of carbon fibre laminates sprayed with graphene, graphene coating on carbon fibre. She has presented her research work at several conferences and published in reputable journals. Marzena has acquired experience in designing, manufacturing and testing composites using various techniques. Marzena was trained to use a range of equipment including static tensile, fatigue, impact testing machine, DMA, DSC, TMA, microwave acid digestion, autoclave, optical tensiometer and many more.
